"Capital Shopping Centres signs Krispy Kreme for final unit at MetrOasis

20 April 2012

Krispy Kreme has been announced as the final tenant for MetrOasis -the 15,000 sq ft catering development which is currently being built at Capital Shopping Centre’s (CSC) Metrocentre in Gateshead.
The doughnut specialist will take the final unit within the catering led development, which will sit between Metrocentre and the adjacent Metro Retail Park providing a direct link between the two.
Krispy Kreme will open a 4,000 sq ft drive thru Hotlight store at MetrOasis. The format, one of which is in every region, offers the ultimate Krispy Kreme experience with customers able to see the doughnut making process taking place from start to finish.
Krispy Kreme joins Starbucks who will open a standalone 1,800 sq ft drive thru unit and Mitchells & Butlers who are opening two restaurants on the new development. These include a 5,100 sq ft Harvester restaurant – their first new build Harvester in the North East -and a 4,050 sq ft Toby Carvery.
MetrOasis was originally granted planning last summer and work began in January. It is due to be completed in the autumn and will create 230 new jobs.
Martin Breeden, Asset Management Director for CSC, said: “As the building work continues apace on MetrOasis we are thrilled to announce the signing of our final tenant for the scheme which further enhances the catering offer at Metrocentre for our 23 million shoppers who visit the centre each year.”
Judith Denby, Chief Marketing Officer at Krispy Kreme, said: “We’ve seen long standing demand for a store in the North East from our fans in the region so we’re delighted to be part of the MetrOasis development. MetrOasis is a fantastic location for what will be the 50th Krispy Kreme in the UK. The Hotlight Store will feature Krispy Kreme’s famous Doughnut Theatre, which enables customers to watch doughnuts being made right before their eyes and will produce over 100,000 fresh doughnuts a week, creating 80 new jobs for the region. “
The Metrocentre Partnership was represented by Jones Lang LaSalle. Morgan Williams represented Krispy Kreme."

Time to wind down and relax to some of these amazing songs.

1. Sara Bareilles - Yellow
You know I love this girl. She's been featured on these music posts more than any other artist. That's because she's amazing, and this song is no exception.

Tuesday 17 April 2012

This is huge.

No, I am not pregnant.
Sorry to disappoint.

What I am about to give you is the secret to where I find amazing recipes.
Seriously, you'll never eat bland food again.
It's my secret love. I love just checking out these websites and seeing what tasty treats I am being tempted to make.

I always say that when I have more time I will create all these culinary masterpieces, but for now they are saved away to my favourites file or my Pinterest.

1. Punchfork
This is an amazing food website, and is always constantly updated so that everyday there is something new to feast your eyes on.

Just some ideas to tempt your pallet...
(Roasted Asparagus)
(Quick Tofu Ramen Noodle Soup)
(Red Velvet Cake)
2. Foodgawker
My friend introduced me to this website. It's basically the same set-up as Punchfork, and sometimes their recipes do overlap, but there is so much choice! I'm torn whether to say I prefer this website to Punchfork, maybe, just.
(Whole Grain Pasta Salad)
(Red Velvet Cookie Shortcake)
(Pesto Cheese Twirls)
3. Tesco Real Food
This website is amazing. I first discovered it after I was reading one of the free Tesco magazines and I used all the recipes from it, I then saw a little caption that said to go online for even more recipes, and whola! I'm converted! The recipes get rated by users, so you know which ones are popular!

(Curried carrot soup with cumin tortilla snaps)
(Banana, yoghurt and toasted oats pots)
(Grilled pineapple with lime juice)
Don't they all look gorgeous? I am such a foodie.
Enjoy!

Friday 13 April 2012

Yesterday was Thursday.

Today is Friday the 13th.

I don't know about you, but today has been a lovely day for me. One of my best friends got married today. This was followed by a trip to the gorgeous beach with galaxy hot chocolate in the ice cream parlour, a walk along the beach and a lovely time spent with my best friend and her family.
Really, what more could I want?

So why is Friday the 13th unlucky?
I am not superstitious at all. I don't pay them much attention. I didn't realise walking under a ladder was bad luck until I see people shy away from doing it and exclaim when I do it.

Apparently having a fear of Friday the 13th is called riggatriskaidekaphobia.
There is no concrete evidence for why this day should be unlucky. The earliest known reference is to some guy who feared Fridays and the 13th, and then died on a Friday the 13th. Ironic I say.
Also, because of people's ridiculous fear of this day, there are fewer accidents or problems altogether as people are more likely to stay indoors and be more cautious.

So let's throw caution to the wind and just enjoy a day that is like every other!

My Ponder: freedom of speech.

I love that the internet is a place where you have freedom to say and do what you want.
If I want to write a blog post on what I think of the current economic climate I can.
If I want to browse funny video clips on youtube I can.
If I want to find out news from all over the world, I can.

But, I'm finding more and more, that the internet, especially social media sites, are just being used as a platform for people to big themselves up and belittle others.

I watched a documentary the other night about Trolling ("In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion" - Thank you Wikipedia!) and just wondered why some people can't just keep unpleasant thoughts in their own head? I can't believe people get a buzz off of angering or upsetting others.

I then thought about how extreme some Trolling is, and how a lot of people would never do it. But, then people don't have problems with slagging off celebrities, football players or complete strangers on their facebook or twitter accounts. Isn't that sort of the same thing? Those nasty words are still about someone's daughter/mother/brother etc. Who are we to cast judgements?

My theory: if it's not acceptable or nice to say to a person's face, then it's not really acceptable or nice to say to them over the internet.

Don't worry, no one has shunned me or abused me over the internet. This post isn't some sort of secret dig at someone out there, I've just been mulling over the last few days about how your identity and behaviour on the internet shouldn't be different from your identity and behaviour in the real world, yet people appear bolder and more daring with their online words compared to their offline identity. Do people do it just because they are more socially removed from the situation?

Personally, I think we should just adopt the saying that my mother always used to say to me and my squabbling siblings:
"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!"
ONLINE. or. OFFLINE.
